“Acts of drawing occur all the time – someone applying eyeliner, doodling on the phone or making someone a map on the back of the envelope.” (Tania Kovats: The Drawing Book: Black Dog: 2007)
The approach to drawing as an everyday activity expressed by Tania Kovats is an attitude that it is hoped will pervade the whole exhibition and supporting activities.
We hope that the scope of this exhibition will also encompass a number of drawing activities that will involve and expand audiences in the process of drawing. This could include:
- aiming to create situations where drawing can be made outside the gallery space and the expected “art” context
- encouraging audience participation in drawing or live drawing with an audience
- exploring the relationship between drawing, architecture and space
- including site specific drawing practices
These might happen before, during and after the exhibition. Plans and ideas for this can be discussed here…
audience participation! Keen to be involved. Am following the blog. Fascinated by all kinds of drawing but would like experience of GPS drawing – followed the work of Layla Curtis & Jeremy Wood.
That’s great to hear, – participation is required for extra-mural. We look forward to your involvement and response. Blog entries on the development stages of our project are on the Front Page.
